Rennes faces Celtic in a game from Group E of UEFA’s Europa League

Rennes faces Celtic in a game from Group E of UEFA’s Europa League. Let’s see what’s the situation with these two teams before their fixture at the Roazhon Park in Rennes in our Europa League predictions.

Rennes are participating in Europa League for a second consecutive year. Last season Les Rouges did a good campaign and reached the 1/8-finals, but got eliminated by Arsenal. They won the first game against the Gunners with 3-1 at home, but suffered a 0-3 loss at the Emirates and said goodbye to the tournament.

In the Ligue 1 Rennes started the new season more than good. Right now Les Rouges are second in the standings with 10 points, being only behind the champions PSG. In five games played so far, Rennes have a record of three wins, one draw and one loss.

Few days ago Julien Stephan’s team travelled to face Brest at the Stade Francis-Le Ble, but only won a point after a 0-0 draw.

Celtic suffered a huge dissapointment in Europe in the beginning of this season. The Scottish giants got eliminated from the Champions League qualifiers, after suffering a dramatic 3-4 loss at home against the Romanian side CFR Cluj. Neil Lennon’s team was considered favourite against the Romanians, but everything went wrong for Celtic in this game.

In the Europa League playoffs Celtic had to face the Swedish side AIK. This time the Scottish side showed much more and won twice against the Scandinavians, scoring six goals in the two games.

In the Scottish Premiership Celtic are flawless so far – five wins from five games played. They have 18 goals scored in the league so far and just three conceded.

In our Europa League predictions we believe that it’s going to be a great game between Rennes and Celtic. Because of their home ground advantage, we think that Rennes are favourites here. But let’s see what Celtic are going to show.
